The goal with Headspace was simple. To create a gathering space that supported a multi-functional program that allows team members to work, collaborate, share ideas and meditate. The central concept around the new design was an open area that could serve as the heart of the organization. A place where people can meet informally as well as a stage to communicate to the world. It’s also a pretty cool place to eat.

The idea of a ‘big boss’ is antithetical to who Headspace is as a company. The value and importance paid to every team member and the important role they play in how they achieve their business goals were always at the forefront of our minds as we designed the space. The pressures and demands on the C-Suite traditionally warrant special consideration of their space. But what if the C-Suite wants it the other way around? How do we make the “heart of the office” something that reflects the authentic values of Headspace, while making sure it’s still functional?
We helped reorganize the traditional office structure while providing an ecosystem of unique environments to meet different needs. Separated into various zones and featuring a variety of heights and platforms, we turned a simple open space, into a living, breathing eco-system. Natural touches like greenery to add warmth and inviting materials and décor gave the entire space a sense of intimacy. What resulted was an office “heart” capable of going from meditative environment, all-staff gathering spot, to functional collaboration area, without missing a beat.
